A Three Ring Spectacular

We ran away with the circus this weekend!  And somehow they let all us freaks come back home.  Chris' work supplied one of the "big top" tents for the Moolah Shine Circus and adorned him with a multitude of free tickets.  He shared the wealth with co-workers, friends and family.

It's been a few years since we've gone to the circus.  The last time was the Circus Flora across from the Fox Theater.  It was a one-ring event and was amazing!  It was small and intimate and our seats were fabulous.  Plus I love, love, love the home-grown type of venues.  The kids were small and seem to remember very little from that event.

This one is big. HUGE!  Over 7,000 people were in attendance on Sunday night.  It was held at the Family Arena and was very, very commercialized.  The intermission was longer than the circus just so families could spend money on pony and elephant rides and souvenirs and face-painting and garbage.  We were not one of those families....even though the proceeds went to a good cause.

The kids, though, had a blast.  And I have to admit, they did some pretty cool stuff.  Things the smaller circus could never pull off.  Like motorcycles in a cage.  Awesome!  And shooting a man from a cannon.  Double Awesome!

We snuck in our own cotton candy (ssh...don't tell anyone but we still have the cotton candy machine from Eva's birthday party and have been secretly munching on it whenever the mood strikes).  The lights and sounds and entertainment were well worth the the price of admission (especially since it was free)!

It was nice to get out and do something again.  And I hope these memories stick with the kids for awhile.
