For the Death of Summer

I am surrounded by these little people who don’t seem to comprehend the "break" part of summer.

Constantly demanding my attention with this need to eat. ALL. THE. TIME.

They take turns barking at me. Like my role in life is to attend to their every need.

Mom, Eva’s bleeding.

Mom, Alex is climbing in the window.

Mom, Grace is talking to a boy.

My GAWD!

Secretly they are working together to ensure that I never have longer than 37.3 seconds to process a thought, put on my shoes or wash my hair.

(And it’s really hard to put on my shoes nowadays).

Oh…their poor boring, miserable lives. Whine, whine, wine….the least they could do is wait until I can drink again.

It’s not like I’ve kept them locked in their rooms for the past few weeks. (although, I have considered it at times).

We’ve done stuff.

Like swim.

In a pool.

And in a lake.

Picnic lunches and bike rides.

Library visits resulting in a wide variety of movies and books.

Speaking of books….

All I want is to lie on the couch and read.

Do they not see I’m five thousand months pregnant?

And it hurts to walk.

Plus, it’s cool and rainy.

But no…

Mom.

Mom.

Mom.

Mommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Sigh.

Why’s it raining so much?

I don’t know.

When can we go swimming?

I don’t know.

Are we going to the lake?
Is the sun going to come back out?
Can I have a snack?
What can I do?

I don’t know. I don’t know. IDONTKNOW!

I need a BREAK!

Is it September yet?

Are you peeking in my windows? cause these are the exact same conversations driving ME mad round here! LOL. The problem with keeping your kids busy....is that you're often busy too. Hopefully it will all smooth out in a few more weeks.

They never get tired do they? Sending calming vibes your way....maybe they will lose their voices for a day or so? :)

I'm not pregnant and I feel your pain. My 7 year old is constantly asking what can we do now? I'm bored. Drives me insane. Give them some chores.

Oh HUGS... it's so hard to be pregnant in the summer for so many reasons. I'm happy to be off, but yes, my kids are needy... today I jumped at the chance to take my friend's kids to her pool because I knew they'd occupy mine and I could just sit there!
