Weekend Wrap Up

By the time Friday evening rolled around, I was exhausted.  When Chris offered to keep the kids with him while he worked the final fish fry of the season, I jumped for joy!  For a split second I thought about saying no.  I mean, the kids really didn't need to be running around the cafeteria while he was preoccupied with catfish and cod serving.  They really didn't need to be pestering the parishners while they tried to enjoy their dinner.  It would just be best if I took them all home.

But I didn't say no.  Mainly because if I took them home with me they would be running around the house, pestering me while I tried to serve them grilled cheese and tomato soup.  I figured I had to live with them day in and day out while the parishners only had these few short hours to enjoy their company.  It was only fair for me to share my wealth.

I opted to go to bed early that night because a). I was exhausted and b). I had a lot on the agenda for the next day.  As the thunder and lightening danced in the sky overnight and into the morning, they managed to clear my plans for the day.  With no baseball practice, soccer game or Easter egg hunt, I wasn't really sure how I was going to keep the kids from killing each other during the day.  So I bribed them with a new Webkinz and all was well.  At one point, they even cuddled up on the couch with me and their new lovies.

That night, we headed to my niece's Minute to Win It birthday party.  I'm a little mad that I didn't come up with that idea first, because it was awesome.  My family is quite the competitive bunch and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree where the kids are concerned.  From ages 3 to 10, these kids were fierce.  I really wish I had my camera because watching them compete was a riot.  I'm still kind of thinking about doing a Minute to Win It game continuation for Alex's birthday in May.  It was that much fun!

As I was brushing Eva's hair for Palm Sunday Mass the next morning, I was explaining to her that Church would be a little longer today, but it just meant that she got to spend more time at Sunday School.  I was telling her how she would get a palm when we walked in.  She got ridiculously excited.

"We get those boobie things at Church!" she exclaimed.

"Umm...what?"

"You know like when you say Aloha." she replied while mimicking a Hawaiian dance.

"Yeah....no, sweetie. You will not be getting a coconut bra at Church today.  Sorry."

She was greatly disappointed.  Although, she did manage to have fun poking her brother and sister with the actual palm she received.  Even more so since she got to play with it all through Mass because out of all days not to have Sunday school, they chose Palm Sunday.  Awesome.

After Mass, we dropped the kids off with their grandma and made a mad dash home to continue working in the yard.  Do you know how hard it is to get the backyard looking nice?  Especially if you are sitting on the couch watching Fried Green Tomatoes.  Impossible, I tell you.

Around 5pm, I decided I was bored.  So I stomped around the house slamming doors and huffing and puffing because I was sooo booored.......and hungry.  And Chris was napping.

Seriously, do you not hear me pitching a fit?  It means it's time for you to get up and entertain me...and feed me!  After an hour of this little tantrum, I finally told him to take me out to dinner because DON'T YOU KNOW I NEED SOME FRIED CHEESE!?!?!

So, he did.  And I stuffed myself on saganaki (fried cheese), calamari, Greek salad and pan-seared sea bass.  And then I felt like crap because I really did eat all of that.

We picked up the kids after dinner, took them home and promptly put them to bed.  I wallowed in the misery of my stuffed belly until I drifted off to sleep.  Thus concluding my extremely eventful weekend.
