Pain, Pain, Go Away!

Last night, about an hour after I drifted off to sleep, little feet pounded across the floor and my quiet slumber was interrupted by painful sobs.

Most nights, one of the kids end up in my bed.  I've grown accustomed to it.

Last night was different, though.  It wasn't the typical "I woke up and want to sleep with you" kind of night.

Eva was in pain.

She cried and screamed in agony.  Her legs would not stop hurting.

For over an hour, I rub her little shins and thighs.  All the while, she was thrashing with pain.

I've never had this kind of experience before.  She couldn't pin point where the pain was exactly....just that it hurt....SO. BAD!

I've heard of "growing pains" but thought it was more of a cliche than an actual thing.

As I rocked her and massaged her legs, a quick google search confirmed that growing pains are for real.  Finally, I gave her some Motrin and she was back to dreamland.

Although, I am quite sure there is nothing more severe wrong with her, it was rather frightening last night.  I've never felt so helpless in soothing my child.  No matter what I did, the pain would not stop.  She was miserable.  And I couldn't make it go away.

Once she was back to sleep, I help her in my arms and cried.  Watching someone you love so much be in so much pain is awful.

I would take all of the pain in the world if it meant she wouldn't have to suffer again.

my son went through this too. we'd let him get up and go soak in the tub some nights. it seemed to help a bit, and pass the time time till medicine kicked in.
Hope it passes as quickly for your girl as it did for my son.

the real downside was the just over $200 in new clothes it cost a month later! Everything was too small....underwear, pants, shirts, bathing suit, shoes, coats.
I can almost laugh about it now.
