There's Something About Our Bed

As these November mornings get colder, our morning walks have fallen to the wayside.  Now, after Chris is at work and the kids are in school, Layla and I snuggle back into bed.

Most days we don't sleep.  Maybe dosing once or twice.  But there's something so comforting about holding in her my arms while we play peek-a-boo with the covers.  The warmth and love does wonders for my heart.

In this sometimes ugly world, there is something special about our bed.

It's where Eva naps in the afternoon.  Although those days are fewer now.

It's where Alex comes when he has a bad dream.  Quietly sneaking into the middle.

It's where Grace will sleep when life gets tough.  Saying she doesn't know why she wants to be there, except that it makes her feel better.

It's where Chris and I contemplate the vast decisions we face.

It's a place of vulnerability and security.

When the days are tough and the nights grow long, it's where I long to go.

With four children sandwiched in between, it's a place of family and love.

And I cherish each moment we have there together.

I love it - what a perfect post. Cherish those moments with them snuggled protectively in your bed.

This is such a sweet post. My kids always come to our bed. I don't get this sweet experience though. Zoo Zoo sits on my head, Angel Girl always manages to step right on the hubbs "soft spot", and Monkey Boy dropped his water thermos the other day...and I ended up with a fat lip!

LOL.

But, I guess it was kind of fun too. In the "it's never dull" kind of humour.

Very great post! Our new bed isn't as comfy as our old one, but my kids still like to sneak in every chance they get!
