Ripe for the Picking

Last Friday, the kids were off school for their annual carnival holiday.  Like last year, we took advantage of this day and went to the orchard for some apple picking.  This year, all of the cousins and grandma and grandpa joined us.

From the little apple play area

To the wagon ride

And all the apple picking along the way.

Pausing long enough for the photo opts

A few bites of the Jonathon and Golden Delicious

And to see how much they've grown.

This is an event that is sure to turn into a tradition.

we did the same thing last weekend - went to our local apple orchard to pick some apples. I made a big batch of applesauce and will also do some apple butter. Nothing like fresh picked and home-made! And I love supporting our local farmers.

I wish we had fun traditions like this. You guys get right into Fall and decorating and Halloween and Thanksgiving...it's not 'big' over here.
Nice pics of what looked like a fun day!!
