For the Love of Summer

***For the record, no baby yet.***

My kids have been out of school for over two weeks now.  My friends' kids just finished off their school year last week.  With the temperatures soaring and the kids getting restless, we loaded up our vans for the first day trip of the summer.

Between the four of us, we have 18 kids (and two more on the way). It is no easy feat getting us all anywhere.  Yet, determined to make it to the lake, we set forth.

The weather happened to be perfect for a day of splashing in the lake and building castles in the sand.  We got there early enough to have the whole beach to ourselves for awhile.  Locating a nice grassy area off the sandy beach, we set up camp.

Floating in the water, swimming out to the line, digging our toes in the sand and some plain old-fashioned girl talk was what we all needed to kick off the summer.

Between all the kids, there was plenty of entertainment and playmates for everyone.

With hours of fun behind us, we loaded up and headed back to the suburbs.  Before we could make it to the highway, the kids were fast asleep.

After a quick dinner and showers, we headed to "Party in the Park" where I relaxed on the lawn while the kids danced to the music.

And this is why I love summer.

So much fun to get out and go to the lake or the beach with kids..then they sleep so soundly!
